From November to May, we accept film submissions and are looking for films under 40 minutes, and over 60 minutes, and in all genres, produced within 2 years of our festival date ie. AFTER January 2022.

We require EDMONTON Premiere status only.  SUBMIT your ‘cinematic baby’ to Alberta’s original international film festival.  EIFF only accepts films submitted online, through our submission partners.

SHORT FILMMAKERS… We announce the award-winning films in the LIVE ACTION and ANIMATION categories by OCTOBER 1st. As an OSCAR® qualifying festival (for short films), this gives filmmakers enough time to apply, and submit to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) for the 97th Academy Awards in 2025.

Alberta filmmakers.

ALBERTA Filmmakers: Please provide in your cover letter Your Alberta mailing address; or For filmmakers who no longer live here, but have Alberta roots (ie. you grew up here, you attended school or shot your film here), please explain your Alberta-ness in your COVER LETTER.

Alumni Filmmakers.

ALUMNI Filmmakers: You had a film programmed at EIFF in the past 5 years (2017-2021)? That makes you ALUMNI, and eligible for a FULL FEE WAIVER! Click us an E-MAIL with the TITLE of your film and the YEAR it screened at EIFF — our people will talk to your people and E-MAIL you back with a WAIVER CODE.

Alumni Filmmaker + Alberta?

YOU’RE an ALBERTA Filmmaker AND an ALUMNI? Rock. Star! We still need you to submit in the ALBERTA category, simply because we have to track and report our Alberta’ness to select funding organizations. So go ahead and E-MAIL a request for ALUMNI filmmaker WAIVER Code.
