Director: Michael R. Rostram | 130-mins. | Belgium/Netherlands/France | 2017 | Drama/Thriller | TRAILER | Belgian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film OSCAR!

Edmonton Premiere! Michaël R. Roskam directs this thriller set against the backdrop of a brutal criminal organization in Brussels, focusing on the romance that develops between an experienced criminal (Matthias Schoenaerts) and a glamorous race-car driver (Adèle Exarchopoulos). Stylish camerawork and on-screen chemistry combine to guide this brooding-in-atmosphere film to towards tragedy and heartbreak, like only a good modern noir film can deliver. The pairing of Adèle Exarchopoulos and Matthias Schoenaerts is enough to have film buffs turning their heads as some of the most memorable french performances have been delivered by them in recent memory, in films such as BLUE IS THE WARMEST COLOUR (2013) and RUST AND BONE (2012).

About the Director:
Michaël R. Roskam’s relatively young career is defined by crime ridden narratives, with BULLHEAD (2011) & THE DROP (2014), both of which star frequently collaborator Matthias Schoenaerts. BULLHEAD, Roskam’s directorial debut, was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, an achievement he hopes to repeat this year with THE RACER AND JAILBIRD being recently selected as the Belgian entry for the Academy Awards foreign language category. Roskam’s next feature THE TIGER signals his talent is attracting some of the world’s movie biggest stars, as it is a major star vehicle for Brad Pitt. As his career is looking to turn towards bigger hollywood pictures, we are certainly eager to see how Roskam’s skill with his eurocentric narratives cement his status as burgeoning auteur.
