On the fourth Thursday of each month from May to August, we have shared a film from each decade of our life to showcase what has moved us, our audience, and the world of cinema!

We revealed each film one month in advance at each preceding screening, so our audience last month heard first that our final film on the Road to 40 is none other than Bong Joon-ho’s PARASITE!

PARASITE moved the needle in ways no one could have foreseen. This precise and cunning tale of class warfare ignited audiences when it screened at EIFF in 2019, and has been instrumental in kicking off a new golden age of appreciation for arthouse and international cinema. Films like PARASITE get you to talk to your friends about movies, they get you to start a Letterboxd account, and they get you to feed an insatiable appetite for the feelings only cinema can give.

This is a special one folks. PARASITE screens Thursday, August 27 at 7pm at Landmark Cinemas 9 City Centre.

The 40th Edmonton International Film Festival (EIFF)

The Edmonton International Film Festival Society’s (EIFFS) mission is to present a film festival in theatres to celebrate diverse cinema for audiences. To achieve this, we showcase high-quality cinema from around the world, allowing filmmakers to interact in a forum that creates and fosters community while placing EIFF on the global film festival map.

We present films produced within 20 months of each festival. These films are curated from submissions and solicited from distributors. The festival also presents a generous dose of filmmaker chats, Q&A’s, gala screenings, a local filmmaker spotlight, ‘buzzy’ films that are travelling the festival circuit, shorts with lunch, and more. Films are selected on the basis of story, quality and originality. All films must be EDMONTON premieres.
