EVERY NIGHT is OPENING NIGHT
EIFF 2012 / VISITOR INFO

COMING TO A SCREENING AT THE CAPITAL THEATRE at FORT EDMONTON PARK THIS YEAR? Read on...

When you approach the main parking lot to FORT EDMONTON PARK, you will see a large wooden sign on your right (administration etc): TURN HERE. Follow the road past the gate - there will be a park host that can give you further directions as well.

Once you have gone past the gate, turn left at the 2nd stop sign and take another left across the street car tracks. You’ll see the theatre on your left and you can park directly across from it in the open area behind the Bill’s Confectionary.

WELCOME TO EDMONTON!

Whether you're a long-time resident of our fair city, or just visiting us for a few days, there's lots to see and do. If you have a break between films - and this is particularly true for those of you who are visiting Edmonton for the first time - check out some of the info below...we hope this helps makes your stay with us that much better!

WHERE TO SHOP:

Edmonton CIty Centre is your downtown destination of choice for shopping, dining and enjoying Edmonton's urban centre.

Convenient underground parking, a wide selection of stores and a trendy downtown buzz make Edmonton City Centre Edmonton's premier urban shopping centre. Where to begin? We've got it all mapped out for ya.

WHERE TO STAY:

Metterra Hotel on Whyte is EIFF's Official Hotel, and is a luxurious boutique hotel in the heart of Edmonton's Old Strathcona Shopping & Dining District - steps away from numerous restaurants, great nightlife, and only a few blocks from Metro Cinema at the Garneau Theatre - home to many of this year's EIFF Screenings!

Guests of EIFF receive a preferred rate throughout the duration of EIFF 2011.

WHERE TO EAT:

EIFF is proud to welcome SUBWAY® as the Official Food Presenter for Lunchbox Shorts! With over 70 locations in the Edmonton area, there's a friendly SUBWAY® restaurant near you!

WHERE TO DRINK:

EIFF is proud to serve STEAM WHISTLE - Canada's Premium Pilsner - as our Official EIFF Beverage of Choice! Available at liquor stores throughout Edmonton (and finer establishments!), Steam Whistle shares a similar philosophy to EIFF's: Do One Thing Really, Really Well!

WHAT TO SEE:

Empire City Centre 9 is downtown Edmonton's premiere movie theatre venue, with 9 newly-renovated auditoriums featuring state of the art sound, picture, and stadium seating.

Metro Cinema at the historic Garneau Theatre is home to year-round arthouse and retrospective cinema, and for 9 days in September, is also home to many EIFF screenings.

HOW TO GET HERE:

If you want to avoid the hassle of parking charges or looking for a place to park in the busy downtown and University areas, the answer is simple: Take ETS! We've partnered with our friends at ETS to help spread the word that the spankin' new LRT extension goes all the way down to Century Park, so now you can park your car any where from the farthest northeast part of the city down to the deep southwest, and hop on the LRT for a quick 15-20 minute ride to either of our main venues. Get off at University station for a short walk to the Garneau, or get off at Bay, Churchill or Central Stations, for easy access to Empire City Centre and Zeidler Hall!

And if you're STILL looking for something to do (BETWEEN screenings, of course), check out...

THE CITY OF EDMONTON:

Check out the City of Edmonton's site for lots more great info on dining, shopping, sightseeing, and of course - our World Famous River Valley!
