Thank-you to the hundreds of filmmakers who sent us their cinematic babies. The selection process is both exhilarating, and painful. In a good way. Every year we dread saying ‘No’ to films. If we could program films 24-hours a day, we’d say ‘YES’ to every one of them! All filmmakers will be notified of their selection status in August.

Submission Guidelines for 2011 will be online again early November. We are looking for films that are beautifully crafted, that we can hold up as examples of excellence in filmmaking. And we’re interested in stories that are a bit left of centre – you interpret that however you want. EIFF showcases the best, international, independent cinema in a variety of lengths at Empire Theatres in Edmonton City Centre.

Thank-you to the many volunteers who donate their time and energies to create EIFF -- your smiling faces and genuine sincerity rank us in among a handful of film festivals deemed to have the 'nicest people'. Whether you're a returning volunteer or brand new to the whole film fest scene, we welcome your help! BRING A FILMMAKER TO YOUR SCHOOL.
Each year, EIFF hosts up to 30 filmmaker guests who attend the festival with their film, and they love to talk about the movie-making process! In order to better serve the many requests for Filmmaker visits, speakers prefer to work in a classroom setting with up to 40 students in grades 7 to 12 and post-secondary institutions. Applications are accepted year-round. Successful applicants will be notified by September 1st.

WHY SPONSOR?
Edmonton is a movie town. We love our films. All kinds of films. That fact alone makes this festival appealing to a great number of Edmontonians. The Edmonton Journal reported in July 2006 that "Albertans are the biggest moviegoers in Canada".

All sponsorship agreements must be finalized by July prior to each annual festival.

One can never have too many friends! Not interested in a formal sponsorship? As a not-for-profit, charitable organization your donation to the festival will result in a tax-deductible receipt. And who ever has enough reasons to keep money from the tax man?
