Opening Night Gala: 'Cloudburst'

(Canada) In attendance were Thom Fitzgerald (Director/Writer) from Halifax, Academy® Award winning actress Brenda Fricker (co-star) all the way from Dublin, William Jarblum and Vicki McCarty (Exec. Producers) from Los Angeles.

The historic Garneau Theatre was the location for our red carpet, Western Canadian premiere of the beautiful love story 'Cloudburst'.  Edmonton band 'Paperplanes and Dragonboats' entertained in the movie theatre pre-film -- thank-you TONS, PAD -- EIFFS Board Member and cinephile, Terence Harding, hosted a lively Q&A with our filmmaker guests then everyone enjoyed complimentary nibbles and bevvies at Murrieta's Bar & Grill on Whyte Avenue.  Thank-you Karmen Meyer and her team for memorable pics -- and for making us look like rockstars.  There was alot of love in the room that night!  Let's keep it goin'.  The love, of course.

CLOSING NIGHT GALA: 'A Bag of Hammers'

(USA) In attendance were Brian Crano (Director) and Jake Sandvig (Star) from Los Angeles!

Garneau Theatre hosted our red carpet, Western Canadian premiere of the bromantic comedy ‘A Bag of Hammers’  Our own multi-talented Todd James (K-97 power house and host of ‘Minute at the Movies’ with Global TV Edmonton) did his best impersonation of Barbara Walters, mining the minds of Brian and Jake and moderating an audience Q&A following the film.   DJ Greg Goa rocked the house with an after-party fuelled by Steam Whistle brewskis and Edmonton’s most beautiful people.  The PEOPLE'S CHOICE Award for Feature Film went to Greg Gricus for his breathtaking documentary 'Wild Horse, Wild Ride' -- he was also in da house!  All the way from the US of A.  Thank-you to our short film jurors who spent days watching films with EIFF audiences: Brian Hendricks (Victoria), Kailla MacLellan (Edmonton), Ryan McMaster (Vancouver) and Brad Stromberg (Edmonton) -- hope your eyeballs are rested now!  Another big round of applause to Karmen Meyer and her team for memorable pics -- and for making us look as fresh as possible.  And to our VOLUNTEERS, our TEAM, our BOARD OF DIRECTORS, our FUNDING PARTNERS, our SPONSORS, Edmonton's fantastic MEDIA peeps, our AUDIENCES, our FAMILIES -- YOU are the stars in our eyes!
