Thank-you to the hundreds of filmmakers who sent us their cinematic babies. The selection process is both exhilarating, and painful. In a good way. Every year we dread saying ‘No’ to films. If we could program films 24-hours a day, we’d say ‘YES’ to every one of them! All filmmakers will be notified of their selection status in August.
Submission Guidelines for 2011 will be online again early November. We are looking for films that are beautifully crafted, that we can hold up as examples of excellence in filmmaking. And we’re interested in stories that are a bit left of centre – you interpret that however you want. EIFF showcases the best, international, independent cinema in a variety of lengths at Empire Theatres in Edmonton City Centre.
24/One – The filmMAKING challenge is B-A-C-K! Are you up for it?
Online registration is NOW OPEN! We’re ready to go with the 6th installment of our annual filmmaking challenge! Modelled after a hugely popular 24-hour film challenge in NYC, we started this ‘little’ project with the goal of wooing 5 teams to participate in year one. Like only Edmonton can do, filmmakers came out in droves and we registered more than 40 teams that inaugural year. The quality of these films continues to blow our jurors away – getting better and better year after year. We bow to all of you who have participated in the past and look forward to meeting cinematic storytellers – old and new – this September!

24/One Top Twelve Films World Premiere at 2009 Festival – WATCH ‘em here.
Yep. They were THAT good. Usually our jury chooses their top 10. This year, they went with TWELVE! Forty-four (44) teams took on our annual challenge of producing a short film (5-mins. or less) within 24 hours! This year’s theme was ‘Love’. The jury’s choice for this year’s Top Ten 24/One Films competed for the Audience favorite and a $500 cash prize.
