EIFF 2010 Opening and Closing Night Films!

EIFF 2010 is thrilled to announce this year's OPENING and CLOSING NIGHT Films, giving festival-goers tons of big laughs to begin AND end 9 days of great films from around the world...

It all begins on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 24th, with a double-barreled dose of great Canadian comedy!

Friday, September 24th @ 7:00pm - SCORE: A Hockey Musical (OPENING NIGHT GALA)

From the director of 2008 EIFF Audience Award Winner One Week comes this hilarious and irresistable instant Canadian Classic! With terrific performances by Noah Reid (in a star-making role), Allie McDonald, Stephen McHattie, Marc Jordan, and the legendary Olivia Newton-John, this toe-tapping comedy is filled with a plethora of memorable new songs written by the Barenaked Ladies, Hawksley Workman, Nelly Furtado, Marc Jordan, and Amy Sky...and it's guaranteed to leve you dancing your way right out of the theatre and straight to our swingin' after-party (details to be announced in September).

Friday, September 24th @ 9:30pm - FUBAR II

The long-awaited sequel to the much-loved 2002 Canadian cult classic is FINALLY here, and EIFF is stoked to bring it 'home' as part of our amazing 2010 Opening Night lineup. As if anticipation for this film wasn't high enough already, keep in mind that FUBAR II was filmed right here in Edmonton (and Fort McMurray), so we're expecting a pretty wild and enthusiastic audience for this Western Canada Premiere screening! Get your REEL DEAL PASS today if you wanna make sure you get a seat to what's sure to be one of this year's hottest tickets!

Saturday, October 2nd @ 7:30pm - THE ROCK N ROLL DREAMS OF DUNCAN CHRISTOPHER

We can't imagine a better, more crowd-pleasing way to close out EIFF 2010 than with this wonderfully inventive, hilarious, and utterly charming indie from Tulsa, Oklahoma! Duncan Christopher is the son of the late, legendary rocker Arthur Christopher, and is certain that he's destined to follow in his father's musical footsteps. Unfortunately for Duncan, he 'might' not be all that good (the debilitating stage fright doesn't help!). So his cousin/manager signs him up for his big break - a gig Duncan doesn't realize is actually a cut-throat, citywide, Karaoke competition! Much, much hilarity ensues.

We'll be announcing our FULL SCHEDULE online September 1st...but we're hopin' this is enough to whet your appetite and convince you that you'd better get those passes early! Visit our tickets page for details on pricing and where to buy 2010 Reel Deal Passes and 6-Packs.
